Spray Volume:
The amount of water used to apply pesticides. Usually given
in gallons/acre or gallons/1,000 square feet.
Broadcast
Application: Application of a pesticide in a uniform manner
over the areas to be treated.
Spot Treatment:
Application directed at specific plants or pests instead of
general treatment.
Flat Fan
Nozzle: A nozzle that produces a flat, fan shaped spray pattern.
Generally used in broadcast application. Produces a wide band pattern
but increases potential drift.
Hollow Cone
Nozzle: A nozzle that produces a conical spray pattern. Generally
used in spot treatment. Produces a narrow pattern, but reduces drift
potential.
Rate:
The amount of pesticide to be used over a given area. Usually given
in ounces per 1,000 square feet or pints per acre.
Area:
The number of square feet or acres to be treated.
